Obama has abdicated as the President of America who will protect and defend it: Instead, he has chosen the role of the provocateur-in-chief, whose role is to play the race card and forcibly bring Ebola into America and decimate it.1
It is up to the Senate to protect and defend us: The very worst thing Obama is doing is sending our troops to Liberia.
We have no idea how this disease is transmitted: Dr. C. J. Peters, head of CDC’s most far-reaching study of Ebola, has said it could spread through air. Tom Skinner, speaking for the CDC, says the disease could spread by coughing or sneezing. Michael Osterholm, who served on the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, says there is no proof that an infected person without symptoms could not spread the virus.1
We already know Ebola is spread by more than just touching those diagnosed with Ebola: NBC reporter Ashoka Mukpo thinks he got it from being splashed while spray-washing a car. Deputy Monnig merely went into the apartment where the Liberian Patient Zero lived. In Spain, Teresa Romero was infected even though she wore a Hazmat suit the two times she treated two missionary priests. They were treated with ZMapp and yet, both died of Ebola. As a result of this secondary infection, over 60 people are now being monitored. Many more could have been infected by her but have not been located. 2
The Dog was Killed Because Animals could spread Ebola: In 2005, researchers tested 337 dogs in Gabon and found 9-25% has antibodies for Ebola. Because no one knows if Ebola could spread to a dog, what symptoms it would show and whether it could re-transmit Ebola; the nurse’s dog was killed. A fruit bat is suspected to be the transmitter. But a WHO study lists chimps, gorillas, monkeys, porcupines etc. as possible transmitters. It says even pig farms may amplify the infection. 3
Our Hospitals are Wholly Unprepared to Treat Ebola: Dallas Presbyterian made multiple mistakes. Yet Obama and the CDC have not sent out protocols. At my local hospital, administrators have had conferences but done nothing. There are no Hazmat suits available. Our emergency rooms are not informed what they should do. Should all our emergency room personnel be exposed? Shouldn’t any patient with symptoms of Ebola such as fever, diarrhea, be seen separate from the general population, by health professionals wearing protective gear? Shouldn’t every hospital have a place prepared to isolate and quarantine potential Ebola patients for 21 days? Shouldn’t the hospitals also have special wards for Ebola patients? Shouldn’t the air vents of those wards be isolated and the expelled air disinfected before discharge? Shouldn’t all hospitals have treatments available? Saying we shouldn’t be racist, Obama supposedly sent all the available stocks of ZMapp to Liberia (I suspect a good stock was kept for Obama and his buddies) Do the hospitals know how they should treat Ebola patients in the absence of ZMapp?
What about our Ambulance Crews? What about decontamination of quarters? What about our Funeral Procedures? CDC Director Tom Friedan spends his time on TV reassuring us there is no problem. But has he issued guidelines to the people who will be handling potential Ebola cases on the way to the hospitals, the clean up of their quarters and the disposal of their remains?
What about Waste Management? Ebola patients generate a huge amount of waste. Emory University Hospital stored this in large rubber bins for days. Texas Health Presbyterian has a similar problem. Duncan’s girl friend and 3 others lived in his blood and fecal matter stained apartment for 5 days before being moved. He had vomited all over the parking lot and that was not cleaned up for 7 days. The Healthcare Coalition for Emergency Preparedness issued a statement on Friday saying anticipated federal guidelines regarding transport and disposal of the waste is inadequate. 4
What about Tracking Secondary Infections? Dallas is scrambling to locate and watch potential primary infections transmitted through Duncan, Patient Zero. What will they do when another person gets sick? Will they have the personnel and the ability to quarantine and watch yet another circle of potentially sick people?
What about Homeless People? Dallas is tracking is a homeless man. The homeless usually defecate and urinate on the public streets. 5 This means the public will track it into their homes. (Remember, the NBC reporter says he merely got splashed with water as he washed a car in which an Ebola patient had been transported.)
Our Airports are not Screening: On October 7th CNN medical reported Elizabeth Cohen said that she and two colleagues all reported they were returning from Liberia. The agent who checked them didn’t take their temperatures. He conferred with a supervisor and told her she should “watch herself for Ebola symptoms,” but did not even know what symptoms she should watch for! 6
The 101st Airborne Air Assault Division is being sent to Liberia: We are sending our most precious troops to Liberia. They are an unmatched expeditionary Air Assault force with a capability to conduct forcible entry and other worldwide unified land operations in support of combatant commanders. 7 They are being “trained” for 6 hours on how to “wash their hands and feet multiple times.” They will be provided “gloves and face masks, but won’t routinely wear full protective suits.” 8
The DOD stated most personnel would be stationed at military bases, away from people infected with the virus. When asked a direct question, General Rodriguez admitted that our troops would come in contact with infected individuals in Liberia. And then, hs argued “That is what they do for a living”!!! 9
General Rodriguez should be court martialled. Using his argument, I could demand he come and clean my toilets! The job of the 101st Airborne is to fight the enemy; not to be nurses to the sick. It is unconscionable that he sends our precious troops there without full protective gear for every single person, without knowing how the infection spreads, without knowing how to treat it; without having adequate supplies of ZMapp; or knowing how he will quarantine our soldiers if they get sick and prevent it being spread to other troops.
The Senate must stop this madness: The Senate must not sit and watch our country being destroyed. They must vote, individually and on the record, on Obama’s mad scheme, which can only infect and destroy our troops.
One way or another; at least until we have better information and know to take better precautions; our troops must not be sent to Liberia.
