The President has every right to order strikes against foreign militants actively at war against us. But Obama keeps expanding his powers. He claims that even American citizens abroad, not actively engaged in war, can be put on his kill list and executed. And Obama has kept the border open, permitted Islamic terrorists to enter and now claims that even America is part of the “theater of war.”
The question is whether Obama is compelled to provide us in America with our Constitutional protections or whether Obama can use his war powers and use drones to execute us without any prior warning or court process.
Thank God for Senator Rand Paul’s courage. He demanded that the President acknowledge he doesn’t have a Constitutional Right to kill Americans without charging them, giving them an attorney and finding them guilty in a lawful trial. For over 6 weeks, Senator Paul had been asking Eric Holder to acknowledge they don’t have that right. (Democrats who abhor the death penalty were silent!!) Holder, and even McCain, kept sneering, “Droning or executing U.S. Citizens would be inappropriate. They would never do such a thing.”
The problem is that they have already done “such a thing!”
Consider Benghazi. By refusing to help the Ambassador and our heroes as they fought terrorists for seven hours; Obama’s Administration effectively condemned them to death. Some of the murderers were Militia/Terrorists we had hired to “protect” our ambassador. Nobody knows who sent our people there, or why, or who fired two Generals who tried to rescue. Obama told Steve Croft he knew it was terrorists; but told us it was a video!! Nobody has been punished for the death of our heroes or the lies they told us. But the video maker has been in jail for six months!.
Consider Fast & Furious: Obama’s Administration worked closely with the Mexican Mafia and supplied them with 2000 AK-47’s that were used to kill over 300 Mexicans and two of our border agents. We don’t know why the guns were given and no one has taken responsibility for the deaths that resulted.
Consider Anwar Al Awlaki, an US citizen killed by a drone in Yemen in September 2011. Obama rationalizes that Awlaki inspired Abdulmutallab, the panty bomber; and Nidal Hassan, who killed 13 soldiers at Fort Hood. But Abdulmutallab was given Miranda rights within hours. And Obama has decreed that Nidal Hassan’s murders were mere “workplace violence” and given Hassan a lawyer too. So, Obama drones the American citizen who “inspired” two terrorist acts. But gives constitutional rights to the two who actually were terrorists.
Now consider Abdulrahman Al Awlaki, Anwar’s 16-year-old American citizen son. Hellfire missiles killed the kid two weeks later. His family claims he was dining with other youngsters. All nine were killed. Robert Gibbs, senior adviser for the Obama campaign, explained: “(Abdulrahman) should have had a more responsible father”!!! … Those of you who have irresponsible fathers had better watch out!!
Now consider Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, Osama’s brother-in-law. Without informing Congress, Obama brought him to New York, gave him Miranda rights (so he wouldn’t disclose any Al Qaeda secrets) and then gave him three attorneys (so he’d escape punishment)
Consider Gitmo, and the pious speeches Obama made about Bush “torturing” terrorists. Only three were water-boarded; and they divulged information that helped locate Osama. Also, Obama unilaterally released other terrorists, at least 40% of whom have returned to the battlefield and killed our soldiers!!
And Obama insists on giving civilian trials to other Islamic Terrorists. Given our constitutional rights, terrorists will almost always walk free. The trials become platforms for their propaganda against us. We provide them with the best lawyers, whose sole aim is to get them off and who will ensue they don’t tell us about Al Qaeda’s operations. We can’t disclose evidence if it is classified. How do we benefit?
Even when Obama finally tried Terrorists at Gitmo, it became a circus. To be “fair,” we translated the proceedings into Arabic and provided headphones. They tossed them. Some idiot non-Muslim female attorney dressed in a Burka and demanded all other ladies in court wear burkas too, to “honor” the terrorists’ faith. While court was in session, the terrorists kept kneeling down to pray. They yawned loudly, spat, and generally disrespected the judge. One guy even flew paper airplanes at the relatives of those killed in the 9/11 attack, mocking them for their loss and pain. All of this was televised and shown, courtesy of Obama, so the world could see how “just and fair” we were. I bet you, the world laughed at us for our stupidity!!
Now consider whom Obama considers a terrorist. According to Obama, Islamic Terrorists are not terrorists. He banned the FBI from using those words. But two “threat assessments” list Christians, Conservatives, Second Amendment Right’s groups, Tea Party groups and even returning veterans, as potential “terrorists.”
Finally, consider how Drone strikes could execute American citizens. Obama insists that America is also a “theater of war” to which his drone rules apply. Obama bragged he alone controls the “kill list.” Nobody knows who’s on it. Two American citizens, Awlaki, and his underage son, were listed and killed. Islamic Terrorists do not even exist. Who’s left? Christians, Gun Rights supporters, Conservatives, Tea Party members and returning veterans. In short, virtually every one of the nearly 50% of Americans who didn’t vote for Obama are potential “terrorists” who could be put on the “kill list” and executed.
In every instance listed above, Obama acted unilaterally, without consulting Congress or getting Court approval. In short, Obama has a paramilitary killing program that targets people far from any battlefield. By failing to give us the right to know what we are accused of and an opportunity to defend ourselves before he kills us; he violates our Constitution wholesale. And by asserting the power of life and death over us, he makes himself into a Dictator.
Thank God for Rand Paul and other young Republican Senators who stood up for us.
