A standard Democrat dirty trick: “negotiate” with Republicans; promise to reduce spending if they agree to raise taxes; then forget about spending cuts and sneer at Republicans for having broken their promises not to raise taxes. Concurrently, the media slaves put Republicans under enormous pressure and demonize them for “refusing to compromise,” and “not being bi-partisan.”
This technique was used very successfully against the elder George Bush, who actually lost the election to Clinton in 1992 because Democrats sneered he violated his promise of “read my lips, no new taxes.”
Now Republican Speaker Boehner is negotiating to raise taxes in exchange for spending cuts (which we all know will never materialize). This will destroy all the small businessmen and women who support Republicans and costs thousands of jobs; and end up with a Republican Party that stands for nothing.
Obama’s government is spending far more than it takes in. In 2012, it took in 5.0 Trillion (32% of GDP) and spent $6.3 Trillion (41% of GDP); for a deficit of $1.3 Trillion. Obama has added $6 Trillion to the previous $10 Trillion deficit. In 2009, Obama controlled both Congress and the Senate and spent $6.1 Trillion, the greatest-ever spending increase.
The 2009 budget, passed solely by Democrats, included automatic increases of 5.2% for all successive years. So Obama ordered his Senate not to pass another budget and kept spending. Republicans won the house in 2010 and stopped Obama’s projected spending increases, but were not able to reduce the spending.
We are becoming Greece. Watch what happened today as Greece keeps spending and raising taxes:
